Day 1: Arrival, Beach Time, & Sunset Dinner

Your first day in the Brunswick Islands is all about settling in and then hitting the beach. In the evening you can wind down with a delicious meal and a sunset view.

Afternoon: Arrive and Hit the Beach

After arriving and checking into your accommodation, drop your bags and hit the beach! It’s time to enter vacation mode – so stroll the shoreline, walk out on a pier, and keep the afternoon unstructured.

Evening: Fresh Local Seafood + Waterfront View

Your only plan for the evening should be a relaxed dinner and sunset.

  • Enjoy outdoor seating on good weather days
  • Choose from casual island vibe options or a fine dining experience
  • Opt for local seafood on many menus

There’s also no need to drive far, explore restaurants options close to where you’re staying.

Enjoy a sunset view from dinner at a waterfront spot or head back to the beach. A beach sunset is one of the most simple but memorable moments of any trip.

Day 2: Explore and Experience the Carolina Coast

Your second day in NC’s Brunswick Islands is your “activity” day but keep it flexible.

Tip: There are plenty of equipment outfitters located across the Brunswick Islands but book your rentals ahead of time during the busier summer season. Guided kayaking tours are also available.

Afternoon: Explore a Coastal Town

Choose to head into one of the charming coastal towns of North Carolina’s Brunswick Islands for lunch and a little more exploration.

Southport is just a twenty-minute drive away if you’re staying on Oak Island and Caswell Beach but still makes for an excellent change of pace if you’re staying on another island.

Visit Calabash:

  • Get a plate of world-famous Calabash-style seafood
  • Browse local shops and Callahan’s of Calabash
  • Grab some ice cream
  • Walk the docks along the Calabash River

Calabash is closest if you’re staying on Ocean Isle Beach or Sunset Beach and remains a must-visit for seafood even if you’re staying on another island.
