Bringing your own boat or looking for a professional skipper to take you and your family or group on a full-fledged fishing adventure? NC's Brunswick Islands has you covered either way.
Public Boat Access
No matter what island you're vacationing on, you're never far from a public boat ramp. Most of these access points are paved and have nearby parking. They give convenient access to rivers, inlets and the Intracoastal Waterway, and from there, it's easy to make your way to the ocean. Your accommodations may even include a private boat dock located on the marsh side or on a quiet canal.
If you're renting or bringing kayaks or canoes, you'll find docks and launch points designed specifically for that purpose.
The charter services in NC's Brunswick Islands are owned and staffed by seasoned professionals with deep knowledge of fishing and weather conditions. They are experts at reading the swells, both inshore and 50 miles out to the Gulf Stream. Whether you're a novice angler or a tournament pro, you will find a captain and crew ready to deliver a memorable experience. You can even get a preview to whet your appetite for adventure!
You'll find larger charters with the speed for deep sea adventure, as well as flat-hulled skiffs for inshore fishing. Many offer both half-day and all-day excursions, and some offer sunset sightseeing cruises. If you're interested in a private excursion where your group has a boat all to themselves, our charters can accommodate. Or, take to the seas on a head boat as part of a larger group and spend the day reeling in the fun. Services and pick-up points differ, so it's best to scope out the full range of charters available.
Fishing Tournaments in the Brunswick Islands
There can be more to fishing than a fresh catch or a great story, especially for those with a competitive streak. Here, the fishing is so great that the area hosts more than a dozen competitive tournaments for all ages. The U.S. Open King Mackerel Tournament has been running here for more than 35 years. One of the largest king fish tournaments on the East Coast, the event is an annual favorite for participants and spectators alike.
Whether you're in it to win it or just for the fun, our fishing tournaments quickly turn into beloved memories among friends or family, from the first-timers to those who plan their trip year after year around the big events. Check out our events calendar and look for tournament details.
