North Carolina’s Brunswick Islands is excited to announce the winners of the #NCBIMemories photo contest! We invited you to share your best Brunswick Islands memory photographs on Facebook using #NCBIMemories and we were amazed at the breathtaking entries we received!

With so many wonderful entries it was difficult to choose only a few of winners, but we are happy to announce that we have chosen our favorite photos from the submissions for a first and second place winner as well as two random drawing winners. These lucky winners will receive a variety of North Carolina’s Brunswick Islands merchandise. Our first place winner will also receive a $100 gift card. We would like to thank everyone who participated in the contest. It was great to see everyone loving the Brunswick Islands as much as we do!

And now, here are the winners, along with some information about what inspired their photography and why they think the Brunswick Islands are so special.

1st Place: Julie Stewart Tucei

Photograph of a sunset in Oak Island

Julie Stewart Tucei takes first place with her magnificent photo of a sunset over the Intracoastal Waterway in Oak Island. As a frequent visitor to the Brunswick Islands Julie said that she, her husband and her dog cherish the time that they spend on vacation at Oak Island each year. When asked about her winning photo she said, "This photo always reminds me of the peace I feel when I'm on the island. It truly is so beautiful and peaceful that it recharges and energizes you to deal with the "real world" when you have to return home. We love the Brunswick Islands, including Oak Island!"

2nd Place: Tracy Hamm

Photograph of the Sunset Beach Pier

Tracy Hamm takes second place for his stunning photo of the Sunset Beach Pier. For Tracy and his family, Sunset Beach has "long been a home away from home."  When asked about Tracy's inspiration for the photo and about his love of the Brunswick Islands he said, "My wife and I have considered Sunset a second home since 2000, which was the year of our first family vacation, and we have vacationed on the island every year since. As I mentioned in my entry post, we lost our oldest son in a snowboarding accident in Colorado in 2019. Sunset Beach has played an important part in our family’s recovery, in part given the amazing sunrises and sunsets (pictured) that remind us of our time together."

Random Drawing Winners:

Sheri Calvert Chisholm with her photo bomber photo taken at Ocean Isle Beach.

Sheri Calvert Chisholm takes one of our random winner spots with her photo bomber photo taken at Ocean Isle Beach. Sheri and her family have been vacationing on Ocean Isle Beach for years. When asked about her love of the Brunswick Islands she said, "My family loves OIB. We have been vacationing on the island every summer since my son, who is now 27, was an infant. It is just such a relaxing and peaceful place that our whole family loves. Our adult children who live in various parts of the country plan to vacation with us every year with their significant others, children and fur babies in tow because of the traditions we began when they were small. It is absolutely my family's piece of heaven and peace on earth."

Nothing compares to getting the big catch of the day!"
